This is also the case with craps. A lot of people are searching for the perfect craps strategy or the perfect craps system. But, because craps is a game of chance that is played with dice that always give a random outcome, it is impossible to come up with a full proof craps strategy or craps system. Pass/Don’t Pass: The Most Important Bet
For every craps player, be it beginner or experienced, the Pass/Don’t Pass bet is one of the most important aspects of a good craps strategy. Almost every player at the table will place this bet because it is the most basic bet in craps. You can either bet on Pass or on Don’t Pass. When you bet Pass, you are betting in favor of the Shooter – the player who rolls the dice. You will win the pass bet when the Shooter rolls any number but 2, 3, or 12. When you bet Don’t Pass, you will win when the Shooter does roll a 2, 3, or 12, but will only lose when te Shooter rolls a 7 or 11. The Pass bet gives the casino an edge of 1.41% while the Don’t Pass bet only has an edge of 1.364%. This may seem like a small amount, but the casino is in favor when you place money on Pass. Thus, placing the Don’t Pass bet is a better craps strategy than placing the Pass bet.
Bet Against the Shooter
Most people who play craps will bet in favor of the shooter. Why they do this is uncertain, but as we have seen in the previous example, betting in favor of the Shooter is not the best craps strategy. In fact, in all cases the opposite is true. When you only look at the odds and the corresponding percentages, which can be found all over the internet, you will see that betting against the Shooter will give you slightly better odds than when you are betting for the shooter. So, the best craps strategy we can offer you is to do the opposite of what most people do and bet against the shooter. Allthough this may only give you a small edge over betting in favor of the Shooter, this small edge may certainly make a difference in your overall winnings.
